This article covers how to manipulate data points using the data points menu. Instructor level Thread profiles can change the data type and add or revise a note. Supervisor level profiles can also delete a data point, move it to another phase, and change a score or date.

  1. Navigate to the chart you want to modify. One method is to tap the Charts tab at the top and select a program from the drop-down menu.
  2. Tap the data point to be modified.
  3. Follow instructions below for desired action.

The selections are determined by your login and Thread profile. Here is a menu comparison:

Instructor Level Actions

Instructors can change the data type and add notes to a data point.

Change the data type

Data points on a chart use different symbols to indicate data type. If one is classified incorrectly, it can be changed.

  1. Tap the data point you want to change.
  2. Tap Data Type
  3. Tap to select the new data type. The change will save automatically.

Add, Edit, or Delete a Note

Notes can be attached to any data point on the chart. There is just one notes page for each data point, but new note text can always be added to it. A thin blue outline surrounding a data point indicates a note is attached.

To add the first note to a data point:

  1. Tap the data point requiring a note.
  2. Tap Add Note
  3. Type the text you want to add. Consider including your name and date.
  4. Tap Save. The data point will now have a thin blue border.

To edit an existing note or add more notes to the same data point:

  1. Tap a data point with an existing note (indicated by a thin blue border). The resulting menu will not include the "Add Note" selection. Instead, users will see existing note text.
  2. Tap the existing note text to access the notes page.
  3. Revise the existing note to make corrections or add more text for a second note. Consider including your name and date with each new entry.
  4. Tap Save. The data point will retain its thin blue border.

To remove an existing note from a data point:

  1. Tap a data point with an existing note (indicated by a thin blue border). The resulting menu will not include the "Add Note" selection. Instead, users will see existing note text.
  2. Tap the existing note text to access the notes page.
  3. Remove all text.
  4. Tap Save. The data point will no longer have a thin blue border.

Supervisor Level Actions

These actions require a supervisor level Thread profile.

Edit Score

Supervisors can edit a score:

  1. Tap the data point you want to edit.
  2. Tap Edit, then Score.
  3. Enter the new score and tap Save

Edit Date

Supervisors can edit a date:

  1. Tap the data point you want to edit.
  2. Tap Edit, then Date.
  3. Rotate through date, hour, minute, and AM / PM until selection is correct.
  4. Tap Save

Move Phase

Supervisors can move data points to any phase on the chart. If this does not work, update Thread to the latest version and retry.

  1. Select a destination phase for the data point, noting both the phase name and date it began.
  2. Tap the data point to be moved.
  3. Tap Edit, then Move Phase.
  4. Choose the correct phase from the list and tap it. Phase names are truncated, so use the date to ensure your selection is correct. The change will save automatically.
    - Please note, If a data point is moved to a new phase, and the new phase has a different number of trials than the data point, Thread will retain the percentage score of the data point.

Delete a Data Point and Restore it Again

Supervisors can delete a data point and restore it again:

  1. Tap the data point to be deleted.
  2. Tap Delete.
  3. To review and/or restore deleted data points, tap the book icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down the left column and tap Deleted Data Points to view a list of data points deleted by all users.
  5. Tap the curved arrow icon next to the data point to be restored. The item will disappear from the deleted list and return to the chart.
