Managing Students and Staff as an Admin

Users can add or remove students and staff members and manage student assignments.

Unlike supervisors, admins have access to the “Students & Staff” page, allowing them to assign students to supervisors, manage those students from their profiles, and add or remove students and staff from the organization.

To assign students to supervisors:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” screen, click an instructor’s name to view their profile

  2. Click Edit in the "Assigned Students" section.

  3. Click the checkboxes next to all the students the instructor is working with

  4. Click Save Assignment

To assign supervisors to students:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” and click a student’s name to view their profile

  2. Click Edit in the "Instructor" section

  3. Click the checkboxes next to all the instructors the student is working with

  4. Click Save Assignment

To add a new student to the organization:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” screen, click Students to view the list of current students

  2. Click Add People

  3. Click One Student

  4. Complete all fields, including guardian information.

  5. Click Add Student

  6. Assign instructors to the student, as detailed above

To add a new instructor to the organization:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” screen, click Add People

  2. Click One Staff Member

  3. Complete all fields, including staff member role and personal data

    • Double-check the staff member’s email address to ensure the invitation to set up a password to access Thread

  4. Click Add Staff Member

  5. Assign students to the instructor, as detailed above

To deactivate a student or staff member:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” screen, click either the Staff or Students tabs and then select the contact

  2. Click Make Inactive

Deactivated accounts will be removed as users from billing in subsequent months. Once a student or staff member has been deactivated, users can view certain information within the account, or choose to reactivate or remove the account.

To check the status of Thread contacts:

  1. From the “Students & Staff” screen, locate the staff member by using the search bar or scrolling through the list of staff members

  2. Under “Status,” view the contact status on the right-hand side

    • Pending: the invitation has not been accepted and a password has not been created

    • Active: the invitation has been accepted and a password has been created

    • Inactive: former students and staff whose accounts have been deactivated
